Art Director at The Level Media.

www.thelevelmedia.com

I was born in 1980 in San José, Costa Rica,  I'm a curious person by nature.
I work as Art Director in a Small Great Company called The Level Media.

I guess my featured skill is being a visual artist, and I started it as a teenager, attending to local art schools where I learn the basics on drawing, painting, and sculpting. Then  at 17 I Started learning the early basics of computers and graphic design and, oh boy, Internet was slow!

In the year 2000 I got my University degree in Graphic Design with emphasis in publicity. The continuation of my education consists basically in multiple courses and workshops in different areas from character design to 3D modelling, multimedia and web design and motion graphics. Online courses and big cappucinos help with the sketching and drawing part.  I've been working in different companies for 15 years now, most of them related to digital production in the gambling and gaming industry.

My skills palette includes Hand and digital Illustration, Painting Skills, Photographer, Videographer and editor, 2D and 3D digital illustration, 3D modelling and rendering, Motion Graphic Skills, Character Design, Concept Design, Brand Design, Web and devices Design among others.

I feel guilty speaking in english as is not my native language (spanish is) so I apologize to my ancesters for betraying the language and to you, patient reader, for any mistake you might find. I just try to reach a wider audience... why? I don't know... cuz I wanna rule the world I guess.. but hey! at least I have a website!.

Stay tuned. I'll try to keep this thing pretty.

ABOUT

Hello, thank you for visiting this page. My name is Grei Jiménez, I am a visual artist, focused mainly (but not exclusively) on figurative and realistic painting. This site contains a sample of some of the most recent work in different areas. I currently reside in the city of Barcelona. Any interest in acquiring any of my works please contact me by email at greivin@gmail.com

Although my story is long and extensive, there are many technical details about what I do that it is not worth going into, and actually my career as an artist has a couple of key elements to highlight:

First, I have had a great passion for drawing and illustration since I was little. It was always natural, I didn't have to force it. I was never confused about it and it became easy to choose which path I would follow.

Secondly, as a fundamental point on the subject, in 2018 with my partner and just turned 37, we decided to make a complete life change. We moved to Spain with all our dogs and we entered the Art Academy where we studied realistic drawing and painting for 3 years in the city of Barcelona. This meant for me the awakening of art as a lifestyle, beyond placing it as a "profession" or a source of income, but it became my therapy and my escape towards relaxation.

At the Studio in HOTasFOC Barcelona, 2023.

In Barcelona, together with Irene, we have fully immersed ourselves in a life dedicated to this. Here we rent a studio each, she teaches, I have my office, we spend time with other artists, we go to the store for materials and we start projects with new ideas every week. Paint, stretchers, canvases, joy, frustration, joy again and paints, many paints.

Just wanting to paint for painting's sake, beyond any other reward, moves my body back to the easel every day I can. I hope soon to be able to dedicate myself to painting day and night without having to worry too much about other nonsense of the world we live in, like paying for a roof, food, or taxes.

Comics

The other topic that captivates me is comics. Can you call it comics? I don't know... let's say comic strips, cartoons, or the appropriate noun to describe what I do when I'm not in the studio or at home and that is drawing comics in a cafe.

Occasionally I am fond of designing funny passages from my own life or some irony of what surrounds me, familiar characters, politics, some fashion topic or just any nonsense.

During 2022 I finished the mini-project called "Naive Questions". Which consists of various scenes accompanied by questions that accompany them. One a day, every day that you could, always accompanied by a coffee with oat milk and some pastries, and made in what I consider to be the most pleasant and relaxing place that exists, the cafeterias.

How many paintings would have been sold by now?

I am currently working on a series of drawings with a rhyme format that accompanies situations of all kinds.

Tanta información a diario,

Todo urgente y prioritario,

¿Será un gran imaginario?

Actividades todas ilusorias,
